Convert FLAC to MP3 in three steps

    1. Choose one or more FLAC files, or try the included sample.
    2. Pick your MP3 bitrate and press Convert to MP3. Keep this tab open while it works.
    3. Listen to the preview and save individual files or download the batch as a ZIP.

    Lossless to lossy, on purpose

FLAC keeps every detail of the original recording, which is why a four-minute song can be 25 to 40 MB. MP3 trades some of that detail for files roughly five to ten times smaller. That trade is useful when you want a library for a phone with limited storage, a quick preview to send to a collaborator, or a file for a platform that rejects FLAC.

    Keep the master

Conversion is one-way. You cannot turn the MP3 back into FLAC and recover the detail, so keep your original FLAC files. For listening on earbuds or in a car, a 256 kbps MP3 is nearly indistinguishable from FLAC for most people. Use 320 kbps if you are converting a prized recording and storage is plentiful. Everything runs in your browser, so large albums never leave your computer.

    Troubleshooting and tips

Embedded cover art and tags are stored separately from the audio, so check the finished MP3 and use the MP3 tag editor to add or correct the title, artist, and artwork. FLAC files with a sample rate above 48 kHz, such as 96 kHz hi-res masters, are decoded and resampled by the encoder, which is normal. If an album is stored as one long FLAC with a cue sheet, split it first, because the converter treats the file as a single track.

    Frequently asked questions

Does FLAC to MP3 lose quality?

Yes, MP3 is lossy. At 256 or 320 kbps most listeners cannot tell the difference, but the conversion is irreversible. Keep your FLAC masters.

Which bitrate keeps FLAC quality closest?

320 kbps is the highest MP3 setting and the closest match. 256 kbps is an excellent balance of size and fidelity for earbuds and car stereos.

Can I convert a whole album?

Select several FLAC files at once, convert them, and download the MP3s individually or as a ZIP. Very large batches use device memory, so work in groups if needed.

    100% In-Browser Audio Processing

All processing runs locally in your browser memory via WebAssembly and Web Audio. Files never leave your device. Built-in peak limiting prevents audio clipping.
