AUDIO CUTTER

Audio trimmer

Keep only the part you need. Drag across the waveform or type a start and an end, listen to the cut, and download the shorter file.

This free audio trimmer cuts an MP3, voice memo, or video down to the part you select on the waveform. No signup or watermark, and the file is trimmed in your browser rather than uploaded.

Try a sample

Load a spoken phrase with a long pause, then trim it to the first few seconds.

Trim an audio file in three steps

  1. Choose an audio file or a video, or try the included sample.
  2. Drag across the waveform over the part you want to keep, or type its start and end time. Clicking the waveform moves the playhead there.
  3. Press Trim audio, listen to the preview, and download the shorter file.

What trimming is good for

Trimming is the quickest edit there is. Cut dead air from the start of a voice memo, pull one answer out of a long interview, make a ringtone from a song section, or shorten a clip to fit an upload limit. Only the part between your start and end times is kept, and nothing else is changed, so the sound of the kept section matches the original.

Setting exact times

Type times in seconds, with decimals for precision. Play the original, pause at the moment you want, and read the time from the player. Because the editor accepts tenths of a second, you can trim right at the edge of a word. If your cut lands in the middle of a loud note you may hear a small click, which a one-second fade out will smooth.

Trimming video and keeping the picture

If you choose a video, the picture and the soundtrack are cut together so they stay in sync. The result is a shorter video in MP4 or WEBM, depending on what your browser can encode. Choose audio only to save just the sound as an MP3. Very long videos use memory while they process, so trim a very large file in stages.

Private by design

The recording is decoded in your browser tab and the cut is made on your device. Nothing is uploaded to AudioClover, there is no signup, and there is no watermark. When you close the tab the file is gone.

Frequently asked questions

How do I trim an MP3 online for free?

Choose the MP3, type where the section you want to keep starts and ends, press Trim audio, and download the result. The cut is made in your browser and the file is not uploaded.

Does trimming reduce the audio quality?

The audio is decoded and saved again as an MP3 at 192 kbps, which is a second lossy step, so keep your original. The kept section is otherwise unchanged and is not re-mixed or processed.

Can I cut out the middle of a recording?

Trim keeps one continuous section. To remove a middle part, trim the two pieces you want and join them with the audio joiner.

Is the audio trimmer free, without a watermark?

Yes. Trimming and downloading are free, with no signup and no watermark added to the sound.

How do I select the part to keep on the waveform?

Press on the waveform where the part starts and drag to where it ends. The start and end boxes update as you drag, and you can fine-tune them by typing.

100% In-Browser Audio Processing

All processing runs locally in your browser memory via WebAssembly and Web Audio. Files never leave your device. Built-in peak limiting prevents audio clipping.
