SILENCE REMOVAL GUIDE

Remove pauses in Premiere Pro

Find speech pauses through Text-Based Editing, then review the cuts before you export.

Find pauses in the transcript

In Premiere’s Text-Based Editing workspace, open the Text panel and transcribe your sequence. Adobe’s pause workflow uses the transcript filter to find pauses and set their minimum length.

Delete and review

Use the transcript deletion controls to remove selected pauses or all matches. Listen across the edits, undo cuts that rush a sentence, and check the sequence timing.

Try cleanup before transcription

If you only need to shorten a recording, our browser tool can cut quiet spans without a transcript. Preview the waveform and edited playback, then import the exported file into Premiere. Keep edited video and audio together when sync matters.

Checked October 3, 2026. Adobe: detect and delete transcript pauses. Check your installed version for current controls.
