Use the native silence tool
Blackmagic’s Resolve 20.2 guide documents Clip → Audio Operations → Ripple Delete Silence. Select your clip, open that dialog, review its settings, and check the resulting cuts. Availability depends on your installed version and edition.
Review the edit in context
Keep speech pacing natural and check linked audio and video around each cut. Work on a duplicate timeline so you can compare the original.
Clean a clip before importing
For a standalone recording, use our silence remover below. Choose audio-only MP3 for a voiceover, or keep video to cut both tracks together. A shortened soundtrack alone will no longer line up with an uncut video.
